One man's dream

PDF Print E-mail

There was a young man who dreamed about climbing the highest mountain in the Alps.

The young man headed towards the mountain, asking the local paper to wait at the foot of the mountain to report on his accomplishment.

Proud of his physical preparation, the young man began climbing with strength and energy. After many hours of climbing, he realized the mountain was higher than he’d expected. His mind went blank and he forgot everything that he had learned about climbing. He panicked so much that he slipped and started falling.

Suddenly his security belt brought him to a halt with a huge jerk and he was left dangling in the air. The young man was too afraid to look down and so kept his eyes focused straight up to the sky. He could do nothing but cry out. “My God, please help me,” he shouted.

He had a strong assurance that God was listening to him. “Please, save me, my God. I really believe that even in situations like this, when death is staring me in the face, you can turn this whole incident around, for your glory,” he prayed.

By this time a huge crowd had gathered below him. He heard people shouting, “Cut the safety belt! Cut the safety belt!” The man thought, “If I cut this belt, I will certainly die.”

With all his might, he clung to that safety belt and refused to let go. For the next few hours, he held tight, looking up to the sky. As agreed, the local newspaper reporters arrived at the foot of the mountain. However, they found the young man, hanging dead, only two meters from the ground.

If you want to realize your dreams, you must be ready to let go of what you know and completely throw your all into God’s hands - even if it sounds crazy!

Think about it…
